MEET ELIZA.

Eliza Louise Newman is a lens-based artist and photographer based in New York City. Raised in Waco, Texas, she received her B.S. from Baylor University and her MFA in Photography from Parsons School of Design.

Working across digital photography and analog formats—including 35mm, 4×5 large-format film, and Polaroid—Eliza’s practice is rooted in an interest in people, place, and the ways we experience the world around us. Her work spans the built environment, natural landscapes, portraiture, and documentary storytelling, often exploring the relationship between people and the places they inhabit.

Alongside her personal and documentary work, Eliza photographs couples, families, weddings, portraits, and the everyday moments in between. Whether photographing a landscape, a person, or a celebration, she is drawn to honest moments, quiet details, and images that hold a sense of place and experience.

Her work has been exhibited at Parsons School of Design, Photoville NYC, Pingyao International Photography Festival, Rotterdam International Photo Festival, and the Bandung Photography Triennale in Indonesia.

When she isn’t behind a camera, Eliza can usually be found sewing, working on her latest quilt, reading, or finding her way to the nearest beach. Sally Rooney and Gabriel García Márquez are among her favorite authors.
